Contact Practice
Lynch Architects is an award-winning London-based practice that prides itself on providing imaginative and empathetic solutions to complex technical and cultural challenges. For the past 27 years we have worked at almost every scale on nearly all types of building in every sector - from individual houses to social and private housing schemes, cultural and commercial projects, new-buildings and renovations. We have expertise and deep interest in heritage and conservation design, and extensive academic and professional experience of working with listed buildings and in conservation areas. We recently won the RIAI International Award 2025 and The Royal Fine Art Commission's Building Beauty "Little Gem" Award 2024 for Westminster Coroner's Court, and the RIBA East Conservation Award 2025 for Jankes Barn. The Zig Zag Building won Best Office Building at The World Architecture Festival 2016, and in 2005 we won the Young Architect of the Year Award. Our methodology has been honed over decades working in complex inner-city and rural situations, and makes use of best practice in Townscape design terms and spatial efficiency. Our finished buildings look remarkably similar to the collages made of them early in the design process, because we believe in the craft of architecture and that good design entails editing and refinement - what might be called the search for a poetic economy of means. We also run Canalside Press which publishes the Journal of Civic Architecture, and teach at Cambridge.
