Kings Wharf is a development of some 260 apartments and penthouses along with swimming pools, gym, two levels of parking and a vibrant new waterfront promenade. Built with the most modern methods of construction, at 19 storeys high, it will be the tallest building in Gibraltar. The development consists of two residential blocks built off a three storey podium housing car parking, services and entrance. The north block takes the form of a distorted 'T' on plan. The south block is, in principle, a mirror image of the north block with the exception of the omission of the 10-storey-high spigot to the south. This configuration allows vehicular access into the car parking podium at the south eastern corner of the site, and opens up the views to the sea when viewed from the city walls. The vast majority of the apartments have a sea-facing view, with the larger ones also benefitting from large terraces. Lovelockmitchell completely revised an existing scheme with outline planning permission and took the design through to RIBA Stage F.
