New Build
LOM Architecture and Design , The Glass House , 5 Sclater Street , London , E1 6JY
LOM designed the National Bank of Oman`s flagship headquarters in Muscat. The dramatic structure – totalling an area of approximately 50,000sqm – stands on a prominent site near the Grand Mosque. The design was influenced by the country`s history and topography. Its natural stone, terraced base reflects the local mountainous terrain and its upper levels evoke the architecture of traditional Omani forts. The central atrium was inspired by Oman’s wadi gorges. The building provides workspace for up to 800 people, a bank branch, boardroom suite, archiving facility, data centre, main vault, cafeteria, roof terrace and underground car park.
