The site, formerly a Public House and redundant 60's office block, had been acquired by Blueroom Properties who commissioned Lewis & Hickey to design a mixed use city centre development. The proposals aimed to unify the fragmented streetscape with an infil development utilizing materials, Forms and use classes to complement the neighbouring developments. The proposals involved the demolition of the existing Public House to provide a new build ten storey tower comprising a Ground floor A3 unit and 39 contemporary designed apartments to the upper floors with penthouses linking to the adjacent Barkergate House. Materials are predominantly stone coloured render and metal cladding with cedar boarding utilised to Accentuate projecting bays. Natural daylight is maximized through large glazed panels. L&H worked closely with landscape architects to integrate the development with the public square.
