New Build
Our Edinburgh office was appointed by Fife Council to develop a feasibility design and deliver 11 new properties as a contribution to achieving the Council’s target of providing 2,700 new affordable homes for rent by 2017. The Tantallon development utilises Fife Council standard house types to ensure conformity of spatial standards and budget control with a materials palette that ensures the new buildings sit comfortably within the context of the neighbourhood and the landscape. The development provides a mix of property sizes to meet the needs of families within the Glenrothes area, including the adaptation of a standard house type to provide a specific need 6 bedroom house for a local family, including wheelchair user. The layout has active frontages orientated to the streets and public spaces to encourage the use of communal external spaces that promote social interaction and engagement with the landscape. All buildings are detailed to provide a high level of air tightness and insulation and include a Whole House Mechanical Ventilation and Heat Recovery System to each property. Each properties also includes an Automatic Sprinkler System. The scheme was completed at the end of 2016.
