Sneinton Market is a mixed-use development that aims to preserve and enhance the local heritage setting with continuation of the reinvigoration of the market area. Aimed to establish the area as an accessible and attractive community that is well integrated into the surrounding local network of public transportation, vehicle routes, pedestrians and open spaces within Nottingham. The proposed scheme will not exceed the footprint of the existing buildings in order to respect and enhance the existing street pattern. Additional height is created at the 3-storey new build block to the south of the site with extra accommodation included within the roof space. The new building responds to the existing, higher massing of the National Westminster Bank (now the Student Lodge) and its appearance is influenced by the exposed gables of the listed building. The development will deliver 44 student residential units which will create 24-hour activity on the site, supporting the daytime and evening activity provided by the retail and restaurant units respectively that will create opportunities for employment, in addition to the employment that will be created during construction.
