Listed Building - Grade I
Studio 2, Plumer House , Tailyour Road , Crownhill , Plymouth , Devon , PL6 5DH
Royal William Yard (RWY) is a former naval victualling yard designed by Sir John Rennie in the 1830`s. It covers an area of 19 acres providing 47,000m2 of space in ten buildings. The buildings are all Grade I listed. The yard was the first truly international distribution centre and the Royal Navy’s premier supply facility created to provision warships. Today it is acknowledged as one of the largest group of historic industrial buildings of its kind in Europe. From the outset, Amanda Le Page led the GHK team who were the Heritage Architects for the entire site, commissioned by the South West of England Regional Development Agency , owners of the Royal William Yard. Together with a specialist team of consultants based on site, she oversaw a programme of repair and conservation of the historic buildings in readiness for future new use development.
