The brief for the restaurant was to provide a vibrant eating establishment in a listed building found in the heart of the city’s historic Barbican area. Using existing furniture, a new bar was formed, incorporating a wireless billing station allowing accurate speedy sales of food and drink. In addition, oak racking was constructed to showcase wines whilst the beers are in glass freezers set below the stainless steel worktops and the fascia of the bar which when lit provides a dazzling set piece to the restaurant. As the restaurant is set on two floors it was decided to form an exclusive area to the upper level, highlighted by the servery formed to the wall between this and the Kitchen. This beautifully curved structure has been designed using brushed stainless steel cleverly welded and fabricated from behind so it appears as one single entity and is set off against a polished steel valance reflecting the restaurant back to the diner. The distinctive servery is intended to allow the diner to experience the sights and sounds of the working Kitchen in full flow and appreciate the theatre of top quality food preparation.
