Le Lay Architects were approached to master plan and design one of the largest residential developments in recent years to be built in the World Heritage city of Bath. This 17,300 sq m industrial site is now home to an award scheme of 75 townhouses, mews and flats, with a mix of affordable, luxury residential and commercial buildings. The new buildings are arranged around a central square with new cycle and pedestrian routes across the site. The square is extensively landscaped and retains mature planting that frame views through the site. The design responds to the distinct character and pattern of the buildings on each of its boundaries The Main entrance to the site is flanked by a pair of original Regency villas converted for commercial use. Bath stone is used throughout for front and side elevations whilst the rear of the buildings is in self-coloured render with bands around windows, reflecting the local practice of the rear of buildings being in rubble stone.
