With the competion of Burry Port's ?5 million Southern Distributer Road, the land at Dyfatty Marshes was opened for redevelopment. Working on behalf of Carmarthenshire County Council's Regeneration Department, the brief was to develop a conceptmasterplan for a total of 120,000 square ft of industrial accomodation. After client approval of the masterplan itself, Lawray were commissioned to submit the scheme for planning approval and to also provide a 22,000 square ft unit on one of the plots available. Both the site and building works were procured under a design and build contract where lawray remained as advisors to the client. The project received a huge ?2.2 million Objective One grant from the Welsh Assembly Government, jointly supported by Carmarthenshire County Council. On recent completion of the works Carmarthenshire County Council have made the units available for letting and have recieved a positive response. The Council made funds available for works to commence on building 15,000 square feet of similar units adjacent to those completed. Lawray have played the same role in producing the design of the units and remain advisors for the client during the build programme.
