Lathams has designed an imaginative mental health resource building for Derbyshire Mental Health Service (NHS) Trust as part of the Three Shires NHS PFI project. The new facility is located at Ilkeston Community Hospital, and is approximately 2,000 m2 in area and arranged over two storeys. The ground floor provides a day hospital and out-patient resource for older people with challenging mental health problems, and the first floor is office accommodation for the mental health team and health visitors. The building is designed in a contemporary style and crowned with a striking butterfly roof. It has achieved an Excellent NEAT rating (NHS Environmental Assessment Technique), ensuring an attractive, robust, low energy building.
