Alteration to existing property, Within a Conservation Area
Our clients had a growing family and wanted to create a space that would turn their house into a family home for years to come. The outdoor area works as a safe space for their young daughter to play and explore. The extension is unobtrusive; tastefully reusing the barn’s aged cladding. This makes the build sensitive to the surrounding neighbours and the context of the locality, set within a conservation area and in close proximity to listed buildings. The extensive glazing on the rear elevation floods their new spaces with light. The functionality of the snug (doubling as a play room) and kitchen/ diner was achieved by rationalizing the internal layout. The side extension makes room for a utility room, tucked to the side and not compromising the visual and physical links to the back garden. https://lapdarchitects.co.uk/lapd-projects-extensions-refurbishments/harwell/
