For Landolt + Brown Redhill station was an opportunity to provide a new bold station for the regeneration of the town centre. The new station will be significant in scale with its double-height glazed frontage and expressed corner marker on the southern corner of the site. Most important is that its relationship to the residential tower which sits immediately north of the station, emphasises the landmark nature of the whole development. The way in which these two key components of the project interact – the residential tower and the station – has been a key design consideration from the outset. Both have an architectural character which is clean and uncluttered, classical in proportion and simple in elegant rectilinear geometry. The design consistency between these two connected elements of the scheme is a core to our comprehensive design approach for the land to the west of the railway.
