Camden
Within a Conservation Area
A few minutes walk from the Camden Town High Street commotion, a row of Victorian houses stand aligned on the southeastern side of Camden Square, one of the 40 Council's conservation areas. We managed to navigate the planning process effectively under the constraints of the Camden Square conservation area and the infamous pandemic. It's a complete renovation of the four-storey house, plus a side extension providing a service entrance, bike storage and toilet. The rationale behind the design is led by increasing the amount of natural light and ventilation in the building. Two pyramid-shaped skylights transformed the darkest room in the house into a bright, pleasant space to study and play music. At the same time, a wide sliding door on the lower ground floor reinvents the relationship between the kitchen and dining with the garden. We also designed bespoke furniture. The works will be completed in June; we will publish the pictures of the finished building then, so watch this space!
