Our clients were looking to increase the size of their family home and rework the layout to improve the flow. We have achieved this through a single-storey rear extension along with a loft conversion and internal renovations. Expanses of Crittall glazing open up rear extension to the garden and floods the new open-plan kitchen-diner with sunlight. A central core houses a new study and ancillary spaces, while the more formal living spaces are located towards the front. The simple palette of red brick and dark metal ties the new building into the old. The loft conversion allows for a new master suite, with metal-clad dormers providing views across the property’s rural surroundings. The contemporary additions are juxtaposed against the property’s period features, maximising the impact of both.
