A single storey extension was added to the front of this cottage to meet the client’s brief of creating a larger entrance hallway and a lighter, more airy lounge. Internally, simple white walls put the wooden floor and beams on full display, which adds warmth to the room. More wood was added with batten joinery that allows light to travel through the house. Externally the black timber complements the existing red brick, with a new green sedum roof above. The peachy front door contrasts with the dark cladding beautifully. The client found reclaimed glazing squares which adds character and texture.
