This stylish and spirited 1930’s building was offered to LA architects as a redevelopment project as the facilities were increasingly restrictive. Extensive consultation was held with the community and an early decision was made to maintain the existing building’s Art-Deco design. To this was added a double-height glass foyer to protect the original building’s façade and provide the strong street presence it lacked. This houses the Box Office, café and a viewing balcony, while at night the lighting scheme picks out the key features. The internal space now contains a Theatre, 2 cinema screens, a Studio and Gallery space.
