New Build, Within a Conservation Area
This new-build in Sheen, South-West London, pushed the boundaries of what is possible for a back-of-garden plot. Natural oak, light brick and generous floor-to-ceiling glazing create a calming and elegant house that is surrounded by a beautifully landscaped garden. Scandinavian and Japanese architecture influenced the design. Exposed timber and simplistic forms create a new house that is stylish and sophisticated, transforming what was a plot for a couple of garden sheds into a beautiful place to live. With all the timber and brick structure built upon screw-pile foundations, the project is designed to resist local flooding. The roof is lushly covered in a wildflower green roof to ensure Biodiversity Net Gain is achieved.
