Alteration to existing property, Within a Conservation Area
The clients in East Sheen, in the borough of Richmond-upon-Thames, required a large family space and kitchen to accommodate their growing family. They wanted a modern, contemporary space that linked the outside-in and wanted eco-architecture and sustainability. The idea was to open the house up to the rear garden whilst retaining the character of the Conservation Area and the house itself. The palette of exterior materials is restricted to reclaimed bricks and exposed concrete framing a combination of sliding and bi-folding doors and windows. The windows above the kitchen worktop create an alternative bar from the outside for the summer months.
