This semi-detached house was bought by a young family. The original kitchen was very restricted and the separate dining area very small. Our new extension created an open plan kitchen with island unit and dining area to the side. Also included was a separate utility room and additional storage. The view of the garden and daylight levels within the space have been improved; this was done with a three leaf sliding door to the rear and a large rectangular fixed rooflight above the kitchen. The patio includes walkover recessed ground lights as well as wall mounted lighting; it is sheltered by a glazed canopy supported on an independent steel frame. The canopy extends the available kitchen area outwards to allow for covered dining/barbecues that is protected against the occasional shower.
