Brief preparation, design and reports for application to Heritage Lottery Fund for a new display hall, entrance and support accommodation, an enlarged research facility and a new Arena with control tower. The project has provided the Tank Museum with a new dynamic image and a setting commensurate with the quality of the collection. The new display hall provides display facilities for 34 tanks, with themed displays. An external Arena allows for demonstrations and public rides. The refurbished existing halls house the reserve collection. The Museum was opened by HRH Queen Elizabeth in 2009. A Supporting Collection Study Centre houses the archive and support collections in the Old Armour School. This was a separate Lottery funded project completed in 2006 A memorial designed by KO'CA has been erected in Portland Stone to commemorate those members of the Royal Armoured Corps who have died on operations since 1945.
