Kendall Kingscott were commissioned to design a modern custody facility adjacent to the existing Bournemouth Divisional HQ of Dorset Police Authority. Our team worked closely with the Home Office to meet standards for fire safety and environmental control and to include the latest security and surveillance techniques, all with the aim of achieving secure and safe conditions for detainees and custody personnel alike. The design includes a new public entrance and reception covering all the existing facilities on the site and the overall arrangement allows the relationship between the public/visitor facilities and the detainee facilities to be clearly defined. It is intended that the close link between the detainee facilities on the ground floor and the office accommodation on the first floor will create efficiencies in processing procedures and improve detection opportunities.
