This new build inpatient surgical unit in the Vale of Glamorgan is a sister scheme to the outpatients clinic we completed in Cardiff Bay for Vale Healthcare. The 25 bed unit has two state of the art ultra clean digital theatres and specialises in orthopaedics. The site was previously occupied by a mental health facility. The site is in a deeply rural location adjacent to Hensol Castle which is a Grade I scheduled ancient monument. The site adjoins a large lake and had complex ecological issues and we have worked closely with the Welsh Assembly and Countryside Commission Wales in order to address bat and newt licensing issues.
