Abney Park Cemetery is located in Stoke Newington within the London Borough of Hackney and is one of the so-called ‘Magnificent Seven’ Victorian Cemeteries in London. The park and the mortuary chapel are both listed on the Historic England ‘Heritage at Risk‘ Register. The proposals will enable Abney Park to become a self-sufficient, vibrant and engaging place that can continue improving far into the future. The works include improvements to the chapel to operate as a multi use facility throughout the year. The settings of the listed lodges will be enhanced, poor facilities will be replaced and a new-build cafe, community and education facility will be constructed.
