The site at Castle Marina is one of the first of 3 to enjoy the new drive through concept store for Costa. The design won favour with Costa owing to its striking curved profile which sets it apart from many adjacent offers on a typical retail park. The concept posed a number of technical challenges in order to marry the unusual profile with the Developer’s stringent financial controls. However these were overcome and 20 will be rolled out in Costa’s forthcoming programme of new sites. The concept uses a palette of materials and colours in line with Costa brand values. Treated aluminium panels are hand-formed on site follow the fluid form of the curved steel work beneath, and likewise the ceiling follows the same form within. Full height glazing to the front of the store with raked glazing to the side elevation help created a fresh and welcoming atmosphere within the store which is reflected in the sales figures have exceeded all expectations.
