£49,000 contract value. The work involed the refgirbishment and substantial extension of a cottage in a village on the outskirts of Nottingham. The existing building was fairly small, and a relatively large addition had to be made, whilst preserving the scale of the original. The roof tiles and bricks are reclaimed, and the windows are purpose made by a local joiner, to a traditional pattern. The interior includes oak beams form Saxon times, reclaimed from a local gravel pit. and murals by a local artist. The building received a design award from Rushcliff Borough Council in 1995.
