Jordan and Bateman won the competition to design the new British Embassy in Doha, including Offices, the Ambassador residence and ancillary buildings. The site was part of a new diplomatic centre being created and was delivered on time and under budget. The building is welcoming and secure, able to accommodate both the day-to-day activities of its users, and larger functions after hours. The building façade is clad in granite with flush-faced windows creating a sheer surface with a brise soliel that enhances the architecture and saves energy by reducing the need for cooling to the interiors.
