This was the competition winning design to provide a major extension to the Deputy High Commission in Chennai. Its curved copper façade is a response to restrictive site conditions and utilization of traditional local skills. The extension was constructed adjacent to the historic residence and had to be built up close to the old offices that remained in occupation during works. Once completed the old offices were demolished and the area landscaped to provide a grand entrance. The new building gives secure public and staff areas with open plan offices and a new visa section.
