We provided a range of Architectural Services, including: a pre-purchase inspection and report on the main house; design of a new detached double garage; exceptional negotiations with Allerdale Borough Council Building Control Section concerning the interpretation of Building Regulation H3 (Rainwater drainage); negotiations with the National Park Authority concerning materials for use within the Lake District National Park, and contract administration for the construction of the garage and associated landscaping. A second stage of work for this Client is a scheme to rationalise the existing hard and soft landscaping to the south west of the house and replace an existing terrace with a more substantive Garden Room. This will provide more space; enhanced views to the north across the River Derwent; and an enlarged south facing terrace. The west elevation is in masonry to enhance privacy; the basement wall is formed of dry laid Westmorland green slate; a sun terrace is provided at the upper level. The design refers to the 1930s feel of the main house and to the rounded sterns and railed decks of steamers on the nearby Lakes.
