The entire ground floor to this large semi-detached suburban house was remodelled to suit the needs of a young family. The kitchen and dining area had to be suitable for regular entertaining and large family gatherings with more daylight and improved links to the garden. A side extension with a ribbon of glazing running from the rear wall and over the roof allowed daylight into the centre of the space. A rear extension with a cantilevered roof and disappearing corner brought the outside in and the inside out, so that the garden becomes an extra room in summer.
