Janus Architecture provided full architectural services for the design and delivery of a new 150- bus depot and regional headquarters offices. The site ground conditions of the brownfield site presented challenges. The use of driven piles and the careful calculation of optimum site levels eliminated the need for off-site removal of contamination and reduced project costs. The depot has eight workshop bays, body shop bays, a VOSA (Vehicle & Operator Services Agency) compliant MOT bay, a chassis wash and two internal bus wash and fuelling lanes. The depot utilises sustainable technology, including a rainwater harvesting system that supplies the bus wash, and a washing reclaim system to save water. There are also solar panels on the depot roof that heat the water within the bus servicing area. The three storey offices provide driver, engineering and headquarters accommodation.
