This Farringdon project involved the refurbishment of a 1960s office building with a three-storey extension and rearrangement of the plan to bring the formerly redundant basement into use, and providing fully serviced offices and meeting rooms and break-out spaces. The ecological footprint of the building was substantially improved through the use of insulation, passive solar water heating, rainwater harvesting and green roofs.The completed project increased the potential of the building from a gross internal area of 27,100 sq ft to a proposed area of 34,000 sq ft. “Great fun to work with, Wells Mackereth speak plain English, understand our practical needs and are clearly committed to great design.” Charlie Green, Director, The Office Group Ltd
