The Practice was instructed to design alterations and an extension to a Grade II listed building in Wimborne, East Dorset, to replace an inefficient and unsightly single storey rear projection. In conjunction with a Heritage Consultant, extensive discussions were held with the Local Planning Authority to secure consent for a contemporary addition that provides the clients with significantly improved accommodation that relates far better with the outside space. The new building comprises walls of black stained vertical cedar boarding and a slate roof, connected to the exiting building with a glazed link under a lead roof. Powder coated aluminium glazing was installed to reinforce the contemporary appearance and to provide high levels of natural lighting.
