The Practice was commissioned to prepare a Reserved Matters application for two new detached dwellings in the Conservation Area. Extensive discussions were held with the Local Authority Planning and Conservation Officers where it was argued that a contemporary proposal would be appropriate due to the sloping nature of the site and to provide dwellings that assimilated well into their setting. A contemporary use of traditional materials ensured that the proposals complied with the Village Design Statement, and the scheme made best use of the site’s features. The buildings immediately started to blend into their setting, especially with the use of natural larch cladding.
