The Practice worked closely with a local Heritage Consultant on a scheme to extend a Grade II Listed cottage in the open countryside and Green Belt. Extensive negotiations were held with the Local Authority in order to produce a design that provided the Clients with the accommodation they required, and that also maintained separation between the new extension and the original building. The Practice engaged in Pre-Application discussions prior to the submission of Planning and Listed Building Applications. In order to minimise the connection to, and intervention into, the historic fabric of the Listed building, a single storey flat roofed link was designed. The remainder of the new structure was designed to resemble a subservient outbuilding.
