Following completion of the School of Music, St Helen’s School continued to invest in teaching and learning with the development of a new £5m STEM Centre alongside refurbishment of their existing Science facilities. This saw the creation of 4 new Design and Technology Studios, a new Science lab and 5 additional classrooms for the Maths department. The first floor classrooms and lab make use of natural ventilation with heated air supplied beneath window seats and exhaust air expelled through roof terminals. Clestorey windows, high ceilings and perimeter windows maximise daylight and openess. The ground floor Design Technology Studios are heated via mechanical ventilation with heat exchangers to maximise efficiency.
