Alteration to existing property, Within a Conservation Area
Waterside Studio Flat 1 , 324 Harrow Road , London , W9 2HJ , United Kingdom
Mews to Lifetime homes standard; whilst small, mews houses can be extended and replanned for contemporary living requirements using eco materials, adding solar panels and sedum roofs. Here we created a large, light filled and flexible living space and extended the upper floor bedrooms. We installed a full width rooflight behind a half width kitchen extension and glass doors to maximise daylight and connection to the garden without sacrificing privacy. The tight staircase has a lower section with storage and a cantilevered upper section for the light to percolate through to the middle of the house from the stair window. Eco materials used; insulating clay blocks, body coloured lime based render, accoya windows, sedum roof, a solar panel, and renovated the existing pine parquet floor.
