A 6 metre long extension to a Victorian terrace house to provide an open plan light and airy living space that doubles the living space and opens vistas out onto the garden. The layout of the site meant discussions with the local planning authority to assess the optimum solution. The extension is large relative to the existing house footprint, but the height of the space and the high glazing creates increased connection with the garden. So although the garden is reduced, it appears larger and more usable! The interior space effectively doubled, as well as made more efficient, with new storage areas, cloakroom and hidden utility area.
