Alteration to existing property, Listed Building - Grade II, New Build, Sited in Greenbelt land, Within a Conservation Area
Extensions, Alterations & Enhancement of External Appearance Our client acquired a relatively modern chalet style bungalow in West Dorset. The property is located adjacent to a Grade 2 Listed garden wall which was part of a larger historic property that had been previously demolished. We were engaged to prepare design proposals for extending and altering the property to provide improved reception spaces and additional bedrooms including a new master bedroom suite. The proposed designs include the demolition of the existing kitchen wing and the rebuilding of this part of the house to enhance the symmetry of the property when viewed from the front. Given the topography of the site, the new extension can accommodate a lowered ground floor for the kitchen and dining space which allows enough space in the attic to comfortably house the new master bedroom suite. A double height dining space links the new wing to the existing reception spaces in the original property and is overlooked by an internal access gallery to the master bedroom.
