Having build his own home some years earlier, the client intends to move into a much more innovative and sustainable house, rooted in its semi-rural site. Challenges include the proximity of a large listed building and the open landscape setting. iArch's design works with the site's slope and existing vegetation to minimise the new building's visual impact whilst maximising the sense of space enjoyed by its occupants. The combination of the building's optimal orientation and massing, high insulation standards, and sue of on-site renewable energy sources has produced a design which should consume net zero carbon-generated energy.
