Mixed tenure new build residential development of 96 flats and 27 houses for PARC Craigmillar, Cruden Homes (East) Ltd. and Places for People. Phase 2 forms part of the Wauchope Square Masterplan by Page & Park Architects, an important component of the wider Craigmillar Urban Design framework. Extensive consultations between Hypostyle, Page & Park and community groups has ensured that the aims and aspirations of the masterplan have been met and that high quality internal and external spaces have been provided to meet the specific needs of the local community. Hypostyle have recognised the importance of tenure integration, with no segregation or differentiation in terms of form or materials between social and private units, in order to promote social integration across the wider community. This also informs the layout, with the creation of enclosed communal spaces to encourage connection between residents, and the Homezone concept allows the streets to be re-occupied by the pedestrian, creating safe public spaces for social interaction.
