The development consists of 106 units for social rent and 19 units for New Supply Shared Equity) and contains a housing mix of various sized homes, designed to address both the topography and canail in a variety of housing typologies, terraced houses, cottage flats and flats. The development was one of only eleven proposals awarded recognition by the Scottish Sustainable Communities Initiative (SSCI), that they are working towards "Creating a Scottish Sustainable Community" The development has been designed on low energy design principles including: building orientation along with window size and orientation to maximise passive solar gain, glazed sun spaces as extension of living space, high levels of insulation to external building fabric beyond levels required by the Scottish Building Standards and passive ventilation to provide natural ventilation providing a reduction in use of mechanical methods of extraction. Design proposals included a biomass plant facility to provide heat and hot water. This has subsequently been amended with gas saver boilers included to all properties and solar photovoltaic panels incorporated to NSSE properties. Community Benefits: Part of the larger masterplan for area regeneration as one of Glasgow City Council's TRA developments. Provision of new retail unit for local amenity. Improved road infrastructure to retained flatted block. Improved access to Forth and Clyde Walkway. Improvements to existing landscape areas and play facilities. Main Contractor providing employment as part of an apprenticeship scheme for local people.
