Out on the fringe of West Wales, overlooking the Irish Sea, Castle High completes the horseshoe of historic outbuildings to reframe a once-sheltered courtyard left exposed when the original farmhouse was lost. The new contemporary farmhouse, sensitive in form and scale, uses a cool white concrete structure inspired by shoreline pebbles, offering a robust, long-term solution for this exposed site. Open-plan living spaces with inset glazing connect seamlessly to the courtyard and surrounding National Park, while upstairs the bedrooms angle toward the sea. Hovering above the landscape, the home balances weight and lightness, embracing the raw phenomena of wind, rain, and shifting light.
