This grade 2 listed terraced house with corner retail unit in Spitalfields was severely damaged by a fire in 2023. House of Design Architects worked closely with London Borough of Tower Hamlets to obtain listed building consent to reinstate internal features materials and details in a sympathetic way and took the opportunity to update the mechanical, electrical and plumbing services throughout out the house along with internal finishes and fittings. All of the panelling, staircase, cornices, mouldings and other joinery including doors and floorboards were faithfully recreated from existing local precedents of the same era (1820) and from a 3D internal scan carried out just after the fire.
