New Build
Horden Cherry Lee Architects Ltd
87 Notting Hill Gate , London , London , W11 3JZ , United Kingdom
Newfoundland is the tallest purpose made, build-to-rent residential building in the UK. This 62-storey high tower comprises 636 apartments, residents’ amenity areas that include internal and external communal spaces, gym, children’s play spaces, restaurant, cafe´, and retail units at ground level. It has been designed and constructed to the highest standards to ensure a long life cycle, using recycled materials with a minimum use of concrete. A key site constraint was the Jubilee line tunnels that run below the building. HCL’s innovative design and engineering solutions, conceived a ‘diagrid’ superstructure which enables the building to be extremely tall and thin. The result is a striking form on the London skyline.
