Central Hall in Keighley is a former Primitive Methodist Chapel, which is situated in the town centre conservation area. The newly refurbished and extended Central Hall is owned by the City of Bradford Metropolitan Council and run by Keighley and Ilkley Voluntary & Community Action (KIVCA). Public facilities, such as an exhibition space and café, are positioned alongside office space use by local companies including Citizens Advice Bureau, and a variety of rooms for rent including small individual offices, meeting rooms and a multifunction hall. A passive environmental strategy was adopted, which worked with the existing building’s qualities (heavy thermal mass, good natural light and cross ventilation) and improved the situation by fitting double glazed windows, underfloor heating and upgrading the levels of insulation.
