The site is located on west side of Fetter Lane in the City of London, adjacent to a Grade II* former Public records Office - now King’s College London library. The redevelopment of this prominent City of London site sets out to create a new building of the highest quality providing 76 apartments to meet the growing demand for residential occupiers in the City of London. Having helped our client Taylor Wimpey secure this site in competition, HLM re-worked the spatial strategy of the previous planning consent to deliver this exciting project. The scheme will enhance the setting of the adjacent listed Grade II* Public Records Office and carefully respond to the character of the Conservation Area, through the introduction of a high quality building. Configured to improve the continuity of the Fetter Lane frontage and strengthen the spatial configuration of the adjacent Clifford’s Inn Gardens., the design draws inspiration from the clarity, proportions, and materiality of the perpendicular style employed in the Public Records Office; carefully evolved to fit comfortably within its prominent context, while employing a modern and authentic architectural language.
