This new European Dry Powder Media facility for SAFC Biosciences is based at their existing site in Irvine which currently manufactures a range of products for pharmaceutical research and industry. The new facility is based on SAFC’s proven pin milling process utilizing pre-blending and post-blending technologies, including conical blending and intermediate bulk container blending to achieve uniformity in line with the US manufacturing capabilities. The project consists of a new GMP process building that contains formulation and testing labs, blending and milling, lyophilisation, desiccation, cop wash, filling and packing areas designed to Orange Guide Grade C & D. There is a high level first floor support deck for process equipment, MEP plant and support services, and an interstitial space with walk-on ceilings to allow access to plant and equipment without going through the clean-room areas. There are two new ware-house areas with space for receiving, testing, storing, and dispensing of raw materials including two sampling labs designed to Grade C. Within the warehouse areas there are two large coolers and freezers designed to tight performance tolerance to store both raw materials and finished goods.
