The new Learning and Teaching Hub, which forms the initial phase of the Universities expansion programme, will provide a transformative approach to place-making, creating a signature 'gateway' building at the heart of the University campus. For the project, the mixture of lecture theatres and smaller group, breakout and study areas reflect the growing trend in making faculty areas more bespoke and focussing general teaching spaces in shared learning hubs that allow more flexible use of space that responds to the demands of new teaching pedagogies. The design was inspired and driven by user-group consultation, emphasising the student experience now and as it will develop in the future, to provide an environment that is open and accessible for all.
