The brief was to create a useable dwelling house out of a derelict structure which consisted of a series of small rooms with little or no aspect onto the rear garden. Vehicular access was none existent and the situation overcome with the use of a turntable and opening up of the old carriage doors. Generally, more space to suit a contemporary lifestyle was required. The property was extended to the rear using traditional materials and finishes and the existing internal spaces re-planned to link with the new and to maximize the potential of the old. The existing hayloft was refurbished to create an open party/play space and the whole of the ground floor to the extension provides a dining/living room accessed directly from the kitchen area. Existing finishes have been kept and great care taken in reproducing paints and colours to recreate the original ambience of the building.
